Full uPVC Window Replacement in Halifax

The Brief

A traditional stone semi in Halifax had the original 1990s uPVC windows throughout, and the sealed units were beginning to mist. The homeowners wanted a full replacement that would restore the kerb appeal of the property, improve thermal performance for winter, and preserve the character of the stone facade. They were particularly keen to keep the bay window on the lounge but wanted it rebuilt with modern glazing.

What We Did

The work included:

• Full survey and measure: Every window was measured individually and checked against the existing openings. We talked through frame colours, glazing specs and opener configurations on the quote visit with sample boards.
• Removed the old frames: The original uPVC frames were carefully removed and disposed of responsibly. Any plaster or masonry damage from the old install was made good before the new frames went in.
• Rebuilt the lounge bay window: The bay was the largest single piece of work. We rebuilt the angled frame assembly to match the original footprint, fitted new A-rated sealed units with low-e coatings, and preserved the internal sill detail.
• Fitted casement windows throughout: All other windows were replaced with casement units in a mix of top-hung and side-hung openers, matching the original layout so the property looked familiar from the street.
• Full clean-up: Old frames, packaging and offcuts all removed from site. Floors protected throughout the job, and a final hoover-and-wipe-down before we left.
• Walk-through with the homeowners: We showed them how to operate every window, talked through care and maintenance, and left them with the manufacturer warranty documentation.

The Result

A full set of new A-rated uPVC windows in a clean anthracite grey finish that works perfectly against the stone. The lounge bay looks the same as before from outside but is thermally much better, and the rest of the property feels noticeably warmer in winter. The homeowners received a full manufacturer warranty on the frames and sealed units and our own guarantee on the installation work.

Job Duration: Approximately two and a half days from first measure to final hand-over.
