Composite Front Door Upgrade, Halifax

The Brief

A semi-detached property in Halifax had the original wooden front door from the 1970s, and after decades of Yorkshire weather it was past saving. Draughty, difficult to lock properly, and losing thermal performance year after year. The homeowner wanted a modern composite front door that would bring the property up to current thermal standards, give them proper security, and look right against the existing brick facade.

What We Did

The work included:

• Measure and sample visit: We took every measurement needed for the quote and brought sample boards so the homeowner could see and feel the colour options in daylight.
• Removed the old timber door and frame: The original door and frame were carefully removed. We checked the threshold, brickwork and cavity for any damage that needed making good before the new frame went in.
• Fitted the new composite door: An anthracite grey composite slab with a textured timber-grain finish. Fitted into a new white uPVC frame to keep the internal look clean against the existing plaster.
• Ultion 3-star Kitemark cylinder: Fitted as standard. The multi-point hook locking system engages five points along the edge of the door, and the cylinder is rated to resist lock-snap attacks.
• Weather-sealed and tested: All four edges properly sealed against the frame, the threshold tested for water tightness, and every moving part adjusted and tested before handover.
• Walk-through with the homeowner: Showed them how the multi-point lock works, how to operate the door properly, and left them with the Ultion key pack and manufacturer warranty documents.

The Result

A modern anthracite composite front door that completely transforms the look of the property from the street. The thermal performance is dramatically better than the old timber door, and the homeowner reported an immediate difference in the draughtiness of the hallway.
